To the huge percentage of you who attended the  launch day, many, travelling hundreds of  miles, many  thanks.  We were delighted to meet you and hope you enjoyed the day.
For those  who couldn’t make it, you missed a superb launch but we have plenty  going on in the next few months  and we look forward to seeing  you soon .
Please check www.IFPDC.ie for details

Frank Ormsby

Frank Ormsby  gave a brief  history of how the IFPDC was set up and started. He also outlined  our aims and objectives and how we intend to proceed
                                                          Richard Hayward
We were privileged  to  have  Richard Hayward  fly over  from  the FGDP {UK}  to  offer a brief  history  of  the  start  of  the UK  group .

David Klaff

David Klaff   was the keynote  speaker .
He outlined some  fantastic  points  on  posterior  composites.

1}  Use  the  bell curve  to  plan your  work  ie:  change  what  you  plan to  make  it  work.

2}  Use a  3 stage  system ie:  etch,  prime , bond   . He  personally  used  Optibond FL.

3}  Use a  ramp cure  light , not a high power  one .

4}  Use a triangle of dark composite at the base of your cavity , not  contacting  the  side  walls  at  all .

This  will give  the illusion  of  depth  and  reduce  shrinkage  stress.

5}   Polish  and  seal  your  posterior composites   not  bulk  adjust .

6}  On  your  anteriors  the  colour  is  given  by the dentine  not  the enamel  and  the dentine  is  multicoloured  not  just A2  or A3.

7 }  Most anteriors , 80% , have   an A  shade.

8}   Plan your  work  with a lab wax-up  if  necesary.

9 }  Use  Glass-ionomer  to bulk  restore  the  posteriors provisionally  before  doing  the permanent  restoration   months  later . That  way  you  improve  the prognosis  for  the final  restoration.

This  was a lecture  that  could  have  filled  a  whole  day ,full  of  gems
I am looking forward  to  the  next  installment .

Ann O’Neill  took  us  through  how  to  use  our  Athens  Passwords

These are a fantastic  resource  that  will  allow  us  to  access  the  latest  and greatest  of  research  about  dentistry on the  web

A few people had not received theirs  at the time of the launch day .We have been in touch with the FGDP {UK} about any that have come to our notice . If you haven’t yet received yours, please, please tell us and we will do our utmost to resolve the matter
Contact us at  info@ifpdc.ie

We have  put a link  to  the  access  point  right  on  our  front  page Link to IFPDC with Athens access

Our Apologies

On the day we
discovered that we had a few misspellings of names.  These
have been corrected in the database and the corrections passed on
to the FGDP {UK} also.

Once again  many  thanks  to  all   who  made  this  such a  successful   day

Many  more  to  come

Chairman   IFPDC
